Doris was born Doris Lilian Pike in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Wednesday, May 30, 1917.
Doris passed away at St Eustache, Quebec, Canada on Saturday, March 31, 2007 just two months short of her 90th birthday.
Doris was born the eighth of nine children and was survived by her younger sister Pearl Dupont who joined her on September19, 2007.
Doris was 19 years old when she married David Smith Wood on March 7, 1936.
She had seven children David, Brian, Gary and Donna but lost three due to complications at birth. Doris divorced David in 1975.
Doris began her working career after her last child had entered school. In the mid 50’s, she worked as a dispatcher for a local taxi company located at what used to be known as Kosy Corner in Laval West.
Shortly there-after, Doris commenced working for the Simpson’s department store(Hudson’s Bay Company) where she spent more than 25 years until she retired in 1982 at the age of 65. Doris began with Simpson’s Department store as a sales clerk and rose to be a supervisor in the credit department.
